Client Services
Audrey Prenzel writes for, brands, trains, and markets the confident, corporate warriors as well as the emerging, undiscovered professionals.
I am Audrey Prenzel and I am Canada’s busiest, (some say edgiest) private career transition expert. I innovatively plan, structure and unleash targeted personal marketing material (résumés, cover letters, speeches, bios) to help you navigate your chosen career path. Whether you earn $40K or $400K, I coach those who know they can do better and want more.
Services: Canadian, International and American Résumés and Cover Letters. Critical with all forms of résumés is the cover letter. I structure exceptional cover letters enticing the reader to call you in for an interview. Realizing that there is no single version that can do it all, I produce the complete range: ad response, networking, and conducting cold calls.
I’m known within the global careers field as the one who can handle writing and coaching for any industry at any level. My services are in particular demand for executive/ senior/ professional level ranges for:
- Military to Civilian Transitions (UN, NATO applications)
- Engineering / Manufacturing
- Police, Fire & EMS (Entry level and for internal career progression)
- Government (For those working at Canadian High Commissions, and Ambassadors, Senior Level Advisors, and Civil Servants)
- High Tech / Science
Is it possible to hire me if your profession falls outside of these fields such as Curriculum Vitae (CVs) for Academia? Yes it is sometimes possible, depending on my workload. Referrals from existing clients stand a very good chance. Contact me directly to discuss your situation.
Additional Offerings… Interview Training, Salary Negotiation Guidance, Speech Delivery or Whatever Other Career Hurdle you Need to Conquer!
Interview Training: Learn how to answer the toughest and unexpected questions. Leverage your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Be prepared with the effective counter questions. Generate value to increase your chances of receiving an offer of employment, while simultaneously eliminating the competition. I am a whiz at showing you the ropes for behavioural, panel, group, and competency-based, and shotgun interviews. (Yes there really is such a thing as shotgun interviews. They don’t hurt…much).
Salary Negotiation Guidance: Winning at negotiations begins with coaching job seekers to sell the value of their services during the job interview. Learn the strategies to secure the base salary, benefits and bonuses you want. Find out how to negotiate based on the payback you can give, and not based on your needs. This means answering the desired salary range questions in a calculated manner. I can help you with this.
Social Media Navigation: Do you know how to use online functions such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, blogs, and YouTube to get a job? I can help you understand why you NEED to add this to your job search tool kit, and then give you smart and effective ways to tackle this. (Trust me; if it was “stupid” or “a waste of time” as many folks believe, there is no way I’d be doing it. I don’t “do” stupid and I NEVER waste your time or mine)
My Time: Just need to talk with me and ask for insight and advice on whatever concerns you? Popular topics are: what to do after you have a résumé and cover letter; networking; how to get directly to a decision maker; tips for working with recruiters; and how to access the unadvertised market. With a background rich in education, careers, speaking, and with talent to market ANYBODY, there isn’t much I can’t handle. But hey, if there is something that falls outside of my area of expertise, I have a select circle of pros that I can refer you to.
A good writer and trainer is always in demand. Companies, dignitaries, business owners, individuals and other résumé writers rely on me to draft and advise for important projects. Regardless of where you are in the world, I convey the intended message with impact.
Biographies: Personal and Corporate. I send you specific questions and I usually like to get you on the phone for these to achieve the intended message. Common bio requests are for Board appointments, websites, to submit with government contract bids and business plans, and as a reference during introductions before you deliver a speech or give a presentation. Countless other people in my industry come to me so I can write theirs, seriously!
Speech Writing: Not many other career gurus are professional speakers. Some of this country’s biggest names and most important political figures hire me to write for them, and coach them with speech delivery as well! I can work with them and I can work with you too! Just like with interview training, I tackle everything from intonation, gestures, when to breathe, when to pause, where to look, and what to do with your hands. This usually evolves in what to wear and in many cases, what not to wear.
Application Service: Strategically prepared for scholarship and bursary applications.
Personal Statements: People who do not want to mess around come to me. They want results. Unquestionably, these are written in your voice. I write so you can to gain entry into the RMC and postgraduate programs such as Faculties of Law, Medicine, Chiropractic, and Internships and Observerships. I write for entry into Masters programs spanning Business, Social Work, Education and Emergency Management. Many police and fire services candidates retain me to write their application letters, along with the résumé and then conduct the interview training.
Outplacement: I can serve your individual or group outplacement needs, at your site or remotely. Programs are available for all levels, with a particular emphasis on senior level operational and technical professionals.
How to Order…
1. Email me your existing résumé in MS Word. One version only please. (If you do not have a current résumé, simply start at step 2.)
2. Indicate what your career objective/next move is. Tell me what level you are currently at and how much money you want to make. I can speak with you on the phone to discuss your needs or email this information to you. Although a targeted résumé is crucial, there is more to consider. I can discuss what is best for you as we map out career path. For example, you may benefit from interview training and/or salary negotiation guidance.
3. Please let me know how you found my services and if you are a referral.
4. Critiques are electronically distributed. (These are detailed and are direct. If you trust me to share my insight, I am going to give it.)
5. An “Action Plan” is emailed to you, specifying the best steps to develop your personal marketing materials and career search capabilities. All fees associated with the project are outlined here so that you can make an informed decision. Clients consistently appreciate my direct and clear communication style. There will be no surprises.
6. Every single person is unique and so the pricing varies based on project specifications. Select the package you want and complete the payment option section. Print it off, sign and fax or mail back.
7. This is a collaborative process. Once a client comes on board, they complete a questionnaire.
8. I will draft your materials and email them to you. I ask that you respond to any changes within the next day or two so the project is still fresh in my mind. Count on me for Electronic Storage. (All files are prepared in MS Word.)
9. For those committed to accelerating their current job status, the interview and salary negotiation training is scheduled right after the documents are finalized.
Important stuff you need to know about me before you hire me!
I am not fast, but I am good.
So, even if I have nothing at all to do, which never happens, but regardless, I will not rush your work. To be honest, I don’t know how to jam somebody’s career into a 24 or 48 hour timeline and spit it out on paper. So, if you want super fast service, look elsewhere. If you want quality, keep reading! A 10+ day turnaround time is typical and it may take longer. Most of my clients are proactive. So, hire me well before you need or think you need to use a résumé, professional bio, or interview coaching.
I am not mushy!
People come to me because they want to be strategically represented on paper; so they excel during interviews; so they can transition to a new career; or figure out how best to enter the civilian workforce after serving with the Canadian Forces.
My communication style is geared towards helping you, not coddling or babying you. If you hire me, you hire my operational style. It works. I coach people to give powerful speeches, control interviews, and win at salary negotiations. As for the writing, I have a global reputation at stake. I get right to the point and I do what it takes to give you global, award winning quality.
It does not matter if you are confident or if you are shy: my style will help you get what you want from your career. My clients appreciate my frankness, peppered with humour at just the right time. If you have not given me enough detail, I will tell you. If you are not bragging enough, I help you do this. If you skip important sections in a questionnaire, then I will tell you to go back and fill it in. If your intonation is off or you use too many "thought fillers" when you speak, I will correct you. If your interview answers do not make sense or include weak examples, I will help you restructure them so they pack a punch. They call me tenacious, focused, strategic and effective. They are right.
